At Instacart, we know that when fuel costs go up, the shoppers who serve communities across the country feel it every time they fill up. That’s why we’re taking action to put more money back in shoppers’ wallets.

Today, we’re announcing an expansion of our fuel savings support for Instacart shoppers – increasing per-gallon gas savings through our partnership with Upside and introducing new Mileage Support that provides additional weekly financial assistance for eligible shoppers.

More Savings at the Pump for Every Shopper

Through our long-standing partnership with Upside, Cart Star shoppers can already earn cash back on gas every time they fill up. Effective Monday, March 30, we’re increasing those savings across every tier:

  • Platinum and Diamond Cart: up to $0.50 per gallon (increased from $0.35/gal)1

  • Gold Cart: up to $0.40 per gallon (increased from $0.30/gal)

  • Non-Cart Star: up to $0.30 per gallon (increased from $0.25/gal)

Importantly, every U.S. shopper2 can benefit from this additional support – including those with no Cart Star tier status. For our highest tiers of Platinum and Diamond Cart, savings are now up to $0.50 off per gallon – providing meaningful relief at today’s prices.

Introducing Mileage Support

Starting Monday, March 30, eligible shoppers who drive 125 miles or more per week while actively fulfilling batches will receive weekly $5 Mileage Support3. Depending on how many miles a shopper drives, this amount could translate to an estimated $1 per gallon in additional savings.

Savings That Stack

These new and expanded benefits build on the fuel support we already offer shoppers today:

  • Upside per-gallon savings — in effect since 2020, Upside will now offer up to $0.30 to $0.50 cash back per gallon depending on Cart Star status and tier.

  • Instacart Shopper Rewards Card4 powered by Branch5 cash back — up to 3% cash back6 on gas at any station when shoppers pay at the pump with their Shopper Rewards Card. Any US shopper can sign up for the Instacart Shopper Rewards Card.

  • Batch pay considerations — Instacart continues to factor fuel costs into batch pay, helping ensure shoppers are compensated fairly while maintaining reliable service for customers.

All of these benefits are stackable, meaning shoppers can combine Upside savings, Mileage Support, and Shopper Rewards Card cash back to maximize their fuel savings.

The enhanced Upside savings and Mileage Support will run through April 30, 2026, with the potential to extend.

Looking Ahead

We’re committed to supporting the Instacart shopper community. Gas prices affect shoppers’ daily lives, and we’ll continue looking for ways to reduce that burden — whether through partnerships, new programs, or batch pay considerations.

“We know rising fuel costs have a real impact for shoppers, especially those driving more miles,” said Tom Maguire, Vice President and Head of Operations at Instacart. “By expanding per-gallon savings and adding new Mileage Support, we’re helping shoppers offset costs.”

As always, shoppers have full visibility into batch details, including estimated mileage, before accepting any batch, so they can make informed decisions about what works best for them.

We’ll continue to monitor fuel prices closely and will extend or expand these programs as needed to best support our shopper community.

  1. Eligible gas station locations subject to availability, as determined by Upside.
  2. Upside is not available in New Jersey or Wisconsin.
  3. Due to regulations in Seattle, any miles driven within Seattle city limits will not count towards weekly Mileage Support.
  4.  Instacart is not responsible for the products and/or services offered by third parties, or for the terms and conditions (including financial terms) under which those products and/or services are offered.
  5. Branch is not a bank. Banking services are provided by Lead Bank, Member FDIC. FDIC insurance only applies for eligible accounts should the bank holding your funds fail. The Instacart Shopper Rewards Card, powered by Branch, is a Mastercard business debit card issued by Lead Bank, pursuant to a license from Mastercard and may be used everywhere Mastercard debit cards are accepted.
  6. Cash back on eligible gas purchases at the pump using the Shopper Rewards Card as payment method. Must select Credit or Bypass PIN to receive cash back for qualifying purchases. Selecting Debit or entering your PIN number will disqualify your purchase from earning cash back. Must pay at pump; in-store transactions may not be eligible. Base Cash back benefit is 3% for gas purchases and EV charging for Diamond Cart shoppers, and 1% for all other shoppers. Total cash back limited to $100 per month. Card benefits are subject to meeting eligibility criteria, which may include your Cart Star status, Instacart shopper account standing, and maintaining a Shopper Rewards account. Card benefits may be subject to change. Instacart or Branch may terminate, suspend or modify the rewards program, in whole or in part, at any time upon notice to you, subject to applicable law. The rewards program is not offered by or affiliated with Lead Bank. It is fully managed by Instacart and Branch.
