Chicago’s Wellness West Leverages Instacart Technology to Help Those Struggling With Food Access
Wellness West, a coalition of Chicago’s health and social service institutions, partners with Instacart to address food insecurity and improve health outcomes for patients on the West Side of Chicago. Initially launched in 2023, the Wellness West Food Connections program made a significant impact on health outcomes, improving diabetes management, hypertension and mental health, and will continue over the next two years.

Instacart Partners with Local Mayors to Help Address Food Insecurity in Underserved Communities
The City of Columbia, South Carolina has partnered with Instacart to launch a Grocery Access Pilot (GAP) program in an effort to improve access to nutritious food for those living in the community’s food deserts. Through the initiative, Columbia residents living in food deserts received an Instacart+ membership and Instacart Health Fresh Funds stipends to improve access. Together, the membership and monthly stipends are designed to help cover the cost of online grocery delivery — helping individuals and families more easily get nutritious food and essentials delivered directly to their door, and the program has been extended for another year due to positive feedback.

How Instacart is Helping Military Families Put Nutritious Food on the Table
Instacart is dedicated to helping every family access the nutritious food they need and that certainly includes those that serve our country. Today, one in six military and veteran families experience food insecurity or hunger, higher than the national average (12%). That's why we’re announcing a partnership with the Military Family Advisory Network (MFAN), a national nonprofit dedicated to supporting military and veteran families, to provide free groceries and delivery to military families immediately following relocation to U.S. Army Fort Cavazos in Texas.
